EV Jobs Academy
WIN is proud of the EV Jobs Academy employer-led collaborative strategy and achievements from 2022-2024, which achieved national attention and funding for the State of Michigan from the White House. The State of Michigan is now serving in the role of convening and expanding the academy in connection with the new Michigan EV Workforce Hub.
Led by the Michigan Alliance for Greater Mobility Advancement (MAGMA), the EV Jobs Academy was an employer-led collaborative comprised of over 100 stakeholder partners to identify the electrified vehicle and mobility-related occupational skill needs in the automotive mobility and electrification industry while developing and scaling postsecondary credentialing programs utilizing a turn-key online shared learning platform for MODAC’s 32 colleges and universities statewide. The collaborative represented private and public sectors developing data-driven talent pipeline solutions for the automotive mobility and electrification industries and was on the same five-year timeline as the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
The EV Jobs Academy recognized curriculum reflected the employer-validated skills and knowledge for the top ten occupations. Employers vetted and advised on new curricula including the delivery and flexibility to upskill employees. This curriculum was then shared on the Michigan Workforce Training and Education Collaborative website and can be found by clicking here; scroll down to the TUITION SUPPORT section.
The Global Epicenter of Mobility (GEM) worked closely with EV Jobs Academy to maximize resources and work with common partners (Michigan Works! Agencies) to better understand labor needs and create seamless skill-building opportunities to develop suites of business- and talent-facing services supporting the growth and development of new and existing talent across the region’s broad network of talent service providers. SEMCA Michigan Works! was the common administrator/coordinator for both GEM and the EV Jobs Academy initiatives. To learn more about the GEM & EV Jobs Academy partnership, click here (PPT).
